📋 How to apply for Wohngeld
Find your local Wohngeldstelle — search "[your city] Wohngeldstelle" — it's usually part of the Wohnamt or Sozialamt at your Rathaus.
Gather documents — Mietvertrag, last 3 pay slips, passport, residence permit, Anmeldebescheinigung, current bank statements.
Submit application — usually online or in person. Processing takes 1–3 months. Benefits are backdated to the month of application.
Annual renewal — Wohngeld must be renewed each year. If your income changes, report it — overpayments must be returned.
