The Deutschlandticket

€58/month covers all local and regional transport in Germany — S-Bahn, U-Bahn, Bus, Tram, regional trains. Does NOT cover ICE/IC long-distance trains. Cancel anytime — no annual lock-in.

DB Bahncard

For intercity travel: Bahncard 25 (€57.90/year) gives 25% off all DB tickets. If you travel intercity 4–5 times a year, it pays for itself.

Ticket Validation

Some cities have physical stamp machines for single tickets — validate before boarding. DB app tickets are pre-validated. Inspector fine (Schwarzfahren): €60.

Night Transport

Berlin and Hamburg run metro 24/7 on weekends. Munich shuts metro at 2 AM on weekends. Uber and FreeNow operate in most large cities.
